British Society of Dental Sleep Medicine (BSDSM) President, Dr Aditi Desai (pictured) will be a guest speaker at the RCS Faculty of Dental Surgery Masterclass in Sleep Apnoea on 18 November 2016. Dr Desai, a dentist who limits her practice predominantly to the management of sleep disorders, will present on ‘Snoring and OSA, the hidden morbidity, what can the GDP do to help?’
The masterclass is aimed at primary and secondary care team members wishing to understand the nature and impact of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Dr Desai will explain the differences between OSA and snoring and the process for establishing a diagnosis. She will discuss the range of treatments available and their various risks, costs and benefits as well as the need for these services within a commissioning environment.
Based in Harley Street and London Bridge Hospital, Dr Desai works with other eminent physicians and ENT consultants as part of a multidisciplinary team of like-minded professionals with a special interest in sleep medicine.
The BSDSM is a professional organisation for members of the dental team interested in helping patients overcome snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea. It advocates medical diagnosis and the provision of the most appropriate therapy.
The event takes place at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London and will attract five hours of verifiable CPD.
